The concept of the show is a singing competition where contestants are judged solely on their voice, without the judges seeing their physical appearance.
The program is hosted by Nikos Aliagas and features four judges, called coaches, who are established artists in the French music scene. The coaches are responsible for selecting the contestants they want to mentor and guide as far as possible in the competition.
During the various stages of the show, contestants face challenges such as blind auditions, battles, and knockout rounds. In the blind auditions, the coaches sit in swivel chairs and listen to the contestants sing without seeing them. If they are impressed by the contestant’s voice, they can press a button to turn around and see their appearance.
During the battles, two contestants compete with the same song and the coach must choose which one to continue in the competition. During the knockout rounds, each coach must select the contestants they want to send to the live shows.
The show has been highly successful in France since its creation, with significant viewership and contestants who have become famous, such as Kendji Girac and Louane. The Voice is now broadcast in many countries around the world, with locally adapted versions tailored to each market.
