Friday March 27, 2026as part of the “All united against hatred” week, the University of Orleans (Loiret) welcomed Mathias Ott, interministerial delegate for the fight against racism, anti-Semitism and anti-LGBT hatred (DILCRAH), as well as Nadine Chaib, Deputy Secretary General of the Loiret Prefecture in order to present the different actions carried out by the establishment around these topics.Â
“C’est le premier mythe qui remonte à l’Antiquité” : une exposition thematique
Among these actions was the exhibition “History of anti-Semitism from the Middle Ages to the present day”, carried out by LICRA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and temporarily installed in the University Library Letters Languages Human Sciences (BU LLSH) on the La Source campus.

On the program: 35 panels depicting numerous mythsincluding for example that of the relationship between Jews and money. “It’s the first myth that dates back to Antiquity and which still wreaks havoc today,” explained Didier Chavrier, deputy vice-president for equality, diversity and inclusion at the University in Mathias. Ott.Â
It’s interesting to see how this myth was created because at the time, as a result, Jews were prohibited from practicing a certain number of professions and were, in fact, relegated to those professions. So, they were only able to invest in these professions of firefighters or money handlers and afterwards, were accused of having too close a relationship with money.
“There is a resurgence of hatred”: the opinion of Mathias Ott
At the end of the exhibition visit, this interministerial delegateHe did not fail to react. “I think it is important to salute all these initiatives which, everywhere in France, in universities, in places of memory, in schools, colleges and high schools, make it possible to say no to the resurgence of hatred in our country.”
There is an increase in hatred, but above all a trivialization. We were talking earlier about Nazi tags in particular, and the apology for Nazism which is also re-emerging, we talked about masculinism, so many new phenomena which sometimes tend to become commonplace and which generate a lot of psychological and even physical violence for a certain number of victims.
A “worrying” situation but which, according to him, must nevertheless encourage more mobilization around this type of actionas well as “telling victims that they should not be afraid to report themselves, to file a complaint, because there is also a huge issue of freedom of speech when it comes to racist and anti-Semitic acts.”
Anti-Semitism today represents half of the anti-religious acts in our country, so there is obviously a very strong warning signal around anti-Semitism, even if we know well that anti-Semitism also leads to other forms such as anti-Muslims or LGBT-phobias, so it often starts with anti-Semitism, but it never stops there.
The Transversal Teaching Unit, another possibility
Mathias Ott was also able to meet Flora and Mathilde, two law students, registered withThe transversal teaching unit (EU) on equality.

Created three years ago and supervised by Didier Chavrier, it allows around thirty students to discover and work on various subjects that are not covered in general courses. Note that in total, the University has around thirty teaching units.
Gender equality is something that is very present in society and which is not at all covered in middle school, high school or in higher education, even though it is an extremely important subject, whether in education, in work, or more. late, and even within homes.
A desire to “change things” on their scale, made concrete by carrying out awareness projects.
“We did online training and alongside that, at the end of the semester, we present a report on a chosen theme. To support this report, we also make a poster, a video, or an interview,” explains Mathilde.
If last year, the students’ choice focused on sexism, this year, their video will focus on masculinism.Â
