The Lagos State Government has rescued a three-year-old child allegedly abandoned over claims of witchcraft. A video went viral on Sunday showing a child in a visibly disturbing condition, appearing malnourished and wearing only a diaper, while drinking from an unclean container.

As reported by TVC News, the video was posted on social media by a user identified as @TheGrandmaBoy, who expressed concerns about the child’s welfare.

The user claimed that the child was abandoned by her mother, who accused her of being a witch and left her to die.

Following the alert, the Lagos State authorities intervened and rescued the toddler from a location in the Ipaja area.

Responding to the incident, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Ridwan Ajetunmobi, confirmed the government’s swift action.

Ajetunmobi revealed that a team led by Lagos Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, successfully located and rescued the child.

He stated, “A few hours ago, I escalated the issue to the Lagos Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, @Mo_ogunlende. The Commissioner and his team were able to trace the address and the child has been rescued.”

Furthermore, it was disclosed that the Lagos Police Command has initiated an investigation into the matter, with updates to be shared with the public as the case progresses.

“The child is presently in the custody of the State Government, while the police are investigating the matter. Further updates on this will be shared later,” the aide added.
