Despite the controversies, the biopic on the king of pop Michael Jackson is ready to conquer theaters

A cinematic Loch Ness Monster

To this endless list we must now add a star of video games who was a bit of a cinematic Loch Ness Monster, namely Metal Gear Solid (MGS for short). A few years after the launch, in 1998, its creator, Hideo Kojima, dreamed of seeing his universe transposed into the 7th art. In his eyes, Hugh Jackman, Viggo Mortensen or Luca Marinelli had the ideal profile to play Solid Snake. In 2014, everyone believed it was going to happen, with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts behind the camera. But at the time, the rare attempts at adaptations like Prince of Persia, Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat do not encourage Hollywood to continue down this path.

Times have changed, and now Sony has asked filmmakers to Final Destination : BloodlinesZach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, to tackle MGS. The goal, according to The Hollywood Reporter: “Creating highly entertaining, commercially driven, personality-driven, genre-transcending films.”

“Bringing to life the iconic characters and unforgettable world of Hideo Kojima”

“Metal Gear Solid was nothing less than a revolutionary cinematic masterpiece that forever marked the history of video games, explained the two filmmakers. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”

“Brussels at the heart of noble art”: actor José Garcia did the show for a good cause in Belgium

Sold 65 million copies, the video game allows the exploration of many themes, such as political intrigues, the use of artificial intelligence, violence in our world, the fear of being forgotten or the transformations of humans by technology. It remains to be seen what Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will do with it in a future that is not yet determined.
