The owners of the Château du Vergnet, in the town of Moularès, 15 minutes from Carmaux, are organizing an introduction to the dry stone technique. These will be two separate two-day courses, for the weekends of April 11-12 and April 18-19. They will be led by Alain Gely, professional wall builder since 1982, landscaper, trainer approved by the French Federation of Dry Stone Professionals.

Concrete learning

These two two-day practical courses will take place in small groups of people maximum. Details from the organizer Victor Brun, head of SAS Domaine du Vergnet: “There is no need for any prerequisites and beginners are welcome. These two courses aim to discover ancestral know-how and learn the basics of dry stone construction. On the program, there will be sorting and choice of stones, assembly techniques, stability and safety, 100% practical site school, repair or construction of your retaining walls or fence in complete autonomy”. This ancestral technique, a sustainable and environmentally friendly method, is listed as a UNESCO intangible heritage.
