They spent a day in Paris as students

High school students from Luxembourg met at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris to slip into the shoes of students for a day. There are 22 of them who came to discover the French capital.

First stop at the Biermans-Lapôtre Foundation, the home of Belgian and Luxembourgish students where some of the students from the Grand Duchy live. There are more than 600 of them studying in Paris. Lola wants to join them next year: “It’s a student town, not too far from Luxembourg. It’s important to see how to live here,” confides the high school student.

A circle to support students in Paris

The Association of Luxembourg Student Circles (ACEL) offered them the opportunity to meet the students already present in Paris: “We are here to reassure them and answer their questions which are mainly linked to studies: how Parcoursup works, finding accommodation, understanding the different universities and campuses,” underlines Christophe Schaack, the president of the Association of Luxembourg Students in Paris (AELP).

The association even introduced them to the joys of the university restaurant, at the unbeatable price of 3.30 euros: an address to know for living in Paris on a student budget. The circle has even published a guide to find out the best deals in the capital.

France, Germany and Austria are popular

Then, head to the 5th arrondissement, the student district. First challenge: understand how the Paris metro works and how to get through the gantry! In front of the Sorbonne, Meys begins to dream of joining a Parisian university in international marketing: “We discover the city and the universities. If I feel too alone here, I know that I can count on the circle to meet new people. It helps me to project myself a little more into my student life,” explains the 18-year-old girl.

Brussels, Lausanne, Maastricht… High school students can discover the universities of several cities. This year, France, Germany and Austria are popular.
