Following a visit to Alefpa (Secular Association for Education, Training, Prevention and Autonomy) for an exhibition on the defense of secularism organized by the CDEN (Departmental Council of National Education), the latter decided to decentralize its board of directors in Conflent, in Vernet, in Alefpa. What is the CDEN? Carmen Esclopé, president of the departmental union of national education and federal advisor explains that its members, the DDEN (Departmental Delegates) have a consultative but essential role of advice and opinion on everything relating to school life, excluding pedagogy, for schools. Appointed by the academy director and the prefect, they participate in school councils and defend the interests of students, security, well-being, etc. are mediators between teachers, children, parents of students with the defense of secularism as their main principle. Beyond their institutional role, these volunteers are involved in this same secular framework in the militant and republican association. National education museums, congresses of mayors, exhibitions, conferences, etc. the palette is wide. These 102 local DDENs (for 228 schools with one of their own, compared to 72 still waiting for a representative) are not idle and are pounding the pavement to work in our towns and villages. The DDEN for Vernet, Ria, Corneilla and others is called Christiane Maillol and is at the service of any applicant, it is easy to meet in the village through its associative activity The board of directors was honored with a meal at Alefpa and a visit to its brand new premises.
