Houellebecq Seminar 2026: the figure of the author (2)
The Houellebecq seminar resumes – we will end the cycle devoted to the figure of the author through an intervention devoted to the figure of the author as a doctor, and two meetings which will allow us to explore the question of the influence of Houellebecquien’s work on contemporary French literature and possible literary affiliations.
Three sessions are planned this semester at the University of Paris Nanterre.

Mardi 14 avril 2026Â
5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.: interview with novelist Patrice JEAN
The interview will take place in the room of the Continuing Education Building (BFC) of the university in room R06. This interview is shared with the seminar of the Observatory of Contemporary Writings, and will also focus on the question of the links between the intimate and the collective in the work of Patrice Jean.

16 h : conférence de Larry DUFFY (University of Kent) : Michel Houellebecq and the figure of the author and doctor.Â
5 p.m.: dialogue between novelist Aurélien BELLANGER and Benjamin ARMAND (University of Sorbonne Nouvelle).
Both events will take place in the PIXEL room of the University Library, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This session will be devoted to the latest developments in Houellebecquian research with the interventions of three doctoral students:
17 h : Assia PERRONE (Université de Rome Tor Vergata et de Nanterre) around the question of nature in the work of Michel Houellebecq.
5:30 p.m.: Ruike HAN (University of Clermont Ferrand) around cultural hybridity in the work of Michel Houellebecq.
6 p.m.: Maxime DESSY (University of Nanterre) around the relationship between Houellebecq’s work and philosophy.

These interventions will take place in the Council Room of the Ricoeur building of the university.
