The Les Coquelicots du Vavoir association is presenting a free photographic exhibition dedicated to pollinating insects at the media library, from March 31 to April 16. An event anchored in a long-standing citizen commitment to environmental protection.
The exhibition is visible in the hall and on the first floor of the Lavaur media library. Office hours, guided tours and games for children will punctuate the event. On the program: bees and butterflies, of course, but also wasps, flies and beetles, these pollinators that are too often overlooked. Through photographs playing on the change of scale, the exhibition reveals the diversity of shapes, colors and the stratagems deployed by flowers to attract their foragers. A relationship described as fascinating and fragile, which the members of the association wish to share with the public to raise awareness of the preservation of these essential ecosystems.
Created in February 2022 and based in Lavaur, the Les Coquelicots du Vallais association quickly established itself as a committed player in the region. It is among the associations which actively participated in citizen mobilization against the controversial agricultural practices of the industrial orchards of Fontorbe, alongside Vallais Nature Environnement, FNE Midi-Pyrénées and other collectives. Its fight goes beyond the local framework: raising citizens’ awareness of the dangers of pesticides and endocrine disruptors, taking action for health and for a preserved environment.
This traveling exhibition on pollinators is fully in line with this approach: remember that without insects, no flowers, and without flowers, no life. Don’t hesitate to come visit it to learn more about the subject, whatever your age.
