Increasing vassalization of Europe; return of the Monroe Doctrine in Latin America; general militarization of foreign policy; intensification of Israeli colonization, justified by a nationalist discourse; deafness in the face of the suffering of Gazans, coexistence in the face of the emergence of the “global South”. These dynamics, which are at the heart of the editorial line of “Le Vent Se Lève”, find an echo in the work of Régis Debray. From his Latin American years to his travels in Palestine, and his reflections on Europe and NATO, international relations occupy a significant place in his books. It is analyzed here by Dominique de Villepin, Lilith Verstrynge, and Christophe Ventura, in a conference hosted by Jean Mendelson.

Christophe Ventura is a research director at IRIS, Dominique de Villepin is a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lilith Verstrynge is a former Spanish Secretary of State and a member of the editorial board of “Le Vent Se Lève”, Jean Mendelson is a former French ambassador to Cuba.

This conference is part of a symposium organized by the Res Publica Foundation, focusing on the thought of Régis Debray. “Le Vent Se Lève”, whose editorial members have participated in several round tables, will publish all the conferences on its YouTube channel.
