Over 200 people (women, young girls, and children from the Brest area) responded to the call of the association “Ici femmes d’Europe et d’ailleurs” on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This mobilization marked the tenth and final edition of “La Journée pour Elles”, organized at the Horizons social center. I was alone at the time, then I founded the association “This festival is a time dedicated entirely to women from all walks of life. Today, we also celebrate the ten years of the association that I created in 2016, as well as a decade of commitment to social connections, inclusion, and empowerment of women,” explained the president, Louisa Bouraya. For the participants, this moment represents a break in their daily lives, a privileged space to exchange, have fun, and take care of themselves. Louisa Bouraya, appointed a knight of the National Order of Merit in 2012, details her journey: “I was a volunteer for 35 years in the Pontanézen neighborhood, where I helped immigrant families integrate. I was alone at the time, then I founded the association. Every year, we support between 100 and 120 people: whole families, women, and also young people for their academic success. We assist them with all their paperwork as well as managing insurance or phone subscriptions. We also act as interpreters. For several years, many refugees have arrived in Brest and we provide them with sustainable support. We are the only ones in Finistère to offer this personalized support.”
