The EuroMulet 2026 will not be held in Creuse. Initially scheduled for September 5 and 6 in Cheniers, at the Moulin de Piot, the European championship of the Mullet Cup will change scenery and head 80 kilometers further south. The event is relocated to Saint-Leonard-de-Noblat, in Haute-Vienne, after several editions in Creuse since 2021.

At the origin of this departure, a statement made by the organizing association Tumprendkür, the uncertainties related to the municipal elections and the difficulty for the mayor to commit, as well as the desire to continue growing, explained Guillaume Hays, the organizer:

“We found another municipality in Haute-Vienne that helps us much more and provides us with materials, privatizes the camping at a lower price than in Cheniers. We had telephoned the Creuse Departmental Council for a grant, they said it would be refused so we did not make a written request. In short, we have always remained independent since the first edition with partners. We are also thinking about the future of the festival, we don’t want it to stop in 3 or 4 years and we don’t want to offer a low-cost festival either, so we found a great municipality in Saint-Leonard de Noblat with a great team and they are very excited to welcome us.”

Thus, a lack of financial support and commitment led the organizers to change location.

Context: The EuroMulet championship, originally planned to take place in Creuse, has been relocated to a new venue in Haute-Vienne due to financial and organizational challenges.

Fact Check: The EuroMulet event attracts between 1,200 and 1,500 participants each year from across France, generating local economic benefits.

A good opportunity for Saint Leonard de Noblat

It is a real opportunity for the municipality of Saint Leonard de Noblat as the event offers significant media visibility. This was evident in previous editions in Creuse.

This European Mullet Cup Championship receives extensive coverage from iconic programs like “Quotidien” on TMC and numerous other media outlets, as well as interactions on social networks. Mayor Alain Darbon of Saint-Leonard-de-Noblat understood this well by giving his support to this unique event.

Every year, the EuroMulet attracts between 1,200 and 1,500 participants from all over France, providing local economic benefits.

A philosophy

Beyond this change of location, EuroMulet must maintain its extremely festive and self-deprecating spirit to celebrate this hairstyle that was once mocked but has now become a symbol of nonconformity.

While the mullet hairstyle initially aimed to stay out of fashion, it seems that the phenomenon of the “mullet” has become trendy, with an increasing number of followers embracing this hairstyle today.
