The list of desalination plants targeted in the Middle East continues to grow. This Monday, March 30, a desalination plant was attacked in Kuwait. The country blamed Iran, which in turn accused Israel of being responsible. “The brutal attack by the Israeli regime on the desalination plant in Kuwait, carried out in recent hours under the pretext of accusing the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sign of the baseness and perversity of the Zionist occupiers,” said the operational command of Khatam al-Anbiya, in a statement relayed by Iranian state television.
The threat against these critical infrastructures has been looming in the region for some time. Already on March 23, Tehran had threatened to strike the desalination plants in the Persian Gulf countries, a vital sector for 100,000 people in the region, in case of an American attack on its power plants.
