The DiscoverEU program, an initiative of the European Union integrated into Erasmus+, offers thousands of 18-year-olds each year the opportunity to travel for free across Europe. The goal is to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Union, discover European cultural diversity, and promote interactions among young Europeans.
In the spring of 2026, nearly 40,000 young people should benefit from a transport pass, mainly by train, along with a discount card for accommodation, cultural activities, or local transportation. Applications will be open from 8 to 22 April 2026 on the European youth portal.
The program is aimed at young people born between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2008, residing in a participating country. Selected candidates will be able to travel for up to 30 days between July 2026 and September 2027, visiting at least one other European country.
Beyond the individual experience, DiscoverEU serves as a tool to bring the European Union closer to its youth and encourage active European citizenship. For territories and municipalities, it also represents an opportunity to showcase their attractiveness to a new generation of European travelers.
Local authorities: promote this opportunity to your young residents (social networks, municipal websites, youth structures) to enable them to seize this unique chance to discover Europe.
