Ukraine certainly knows how to inspire countries at war. The United States has just launched a marketplace for drones and their components for military use titled “Unmanned Aircraft Systems Marketplace” (UASM), revealed the American army on its site last week.
As reported by the specialized site Militarnyi, this is likely a new development inspired by Ukrainian solutions such as its Brave1 Market platforms and DOT-Chain Defense.
Developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services and the Army’s cloud technology management agency, UASM aims to enable military units, government partners, and allied countries to more efficiently acquire proven drone solutions.
This new digital platform “offers tools that allow users to compare system functionalities, provide direct feedback, and easily place orders,” stated the army on its site.
“Maintaining our superiority on the battlefield”
Much more than just a digital showcase, UASM “represents a major shift from traditional acquisition methods, which are slower, and is a key element of the US Army’s goal to transform its procurement process,” it added. With this competitive and transparent environment, the platform promotes innovation, expands the industrial base, and provides a wider range of drone capabilities to meet the changing requirements of the modern battlefield.
For Clair Gill, director of portfolio acquisitions for maneuver aviation, UASM marks a decisive turning point in acquisition approach and is a cornerstone of the Army’s aviation modernization strategy. “This new agility enables us to equip our soldiers with the unmanned technologies they need to maintain their superiority on a complex battlefield,” he emphasized.
This new “marketplace” also allows users to compare prices and features of drones, as well as directly contact manufacturers to enhance the products.
