Here are the latest events related to the war in the Middle East on Tuesday, the 32nd day after the conflict began:

Explosions and Power Outages in Tehran

Iranian media reported explosions and power outages in Tehran on Tuesday morning.

Fars news agency mentioned “several explosions” and power outages “in some parts” of the Iranian capital. Tasnim agency reported explosions heard in the east and west of Tehran as well as disruptions in energy supply in the east, stating that a substation of a power plant had been hit.

The Israeli military had earlier advised residents in a residential area of Tehran to take shelter in anticipation of an attack targeting “a military infrastructure”.

Explosions in Jerusalem, Israel claims to intercept Iranian missiles

An AFP journalist heard at least 10 explosions over Jerusalem on Tuesday after the Israeli army indicated it was seeking to intercept missiles fired from Iran.

The Israeli army identified missiles fired from Iran towards Israeli territory. Defense systems were activated to intercept this threat,” the army said on Telegram, before lifting the alert minutes later.

Iran’s state-run broadcaster Irib announced the missile launch towards Israel.

Optimism rises in markets after reports of a Trump turnaround

Asian markets limit their losses and oil declines on Tuesday after press reports that Donald Trump is considering ending the military intervention in Iran, even without reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the American president told his advisors that he was ready to end the US military campaign against Iran, believing that forcing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would extend the conflict beyond its “four to six week” timeline.

Washington aims to diplomatically persuade Tehran to unblock this strategic passage, through which a fifth of the world’s oil typically flows. If this strategy fails, Mr. Trump would seek support from European and Gulf allies to reopen the strait, US officials told the WSJ.

Strikes against pro-Iran forces in Iraq

Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a coalition of former paramilitaries including pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq, announced they were targeted by American-Israeli airstrikes overnight in the center and west of the country. According to their statement, there were no casualties.

Iran attacks a Kuwaiti tanker in Dubai

Iran conducted a “direct” attack on a Kuwaiti-flagged tanker at Dubai’s port in the United Arab Emirates, causing material damage to the ship’s hull and an onboard fire, with a risk of an oil spill in the surrounding waters.

Four injured in Dubai after debris falls

Four people were injured in Dubai, UAE, by falling “debris” caused by anti-aircraft defenses, according to Dubai’s press office.

Israel has achieved more than half of its war goals, says Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes they have accomplished more than half of their war goals against Iran but did not provide a specific timeline during an interview with the conservative American channel Newsmax.

“Half of the way is clearly surpassed. But I don’t want to set a timeline,” said the leader, emphasizing that he was speaking “in terms of missions, not necessarily in terms of duration.”

“Ultimately, I think this regime will collapse from within,” Netanyahu also noted about Iran.
