The Redmond firm continues to review its copy for Windows 11. After making big promises in terms of optimization for its system, Microsoft is tackling a new project. Rudy Huyn, partner architect at Microsoft, announced on X the creation of a new team to develop applications Windows 100 % natives.

Towards a less energy-consuming Windows

In recent years, Microsoft has chosen to rely on applications with a so-called architecture. d’applications web progressives (PWA). Web applications which have many advantages such as the rapid deployment of new features, but this has a cost.

By relying on a web engine, the application may take longer to start, but also less fluid with increased memory consumption. The latest version of WhatsApp for Windows is a perfect example.

By returning to native applications, developers will be able to get the most out of the OS. Enough to allow users to breathe in a context where the surge in RAM and storage prices requires a constant optimization effort.

Although the promise is beautiful, it will nevertheless be necessary to be patient. For the moment, Windows has not given any information on the applications that would be affected by this new approach.
