TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) — Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei sent a message to Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem pledging to continue supporting the resistance against the United States and Israel, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Wednesday morning.
In his message, the Iranian Supreme Leader welcomed the condolences and sympathy expressed by the Hezbollah leader following the “martyrdom” of his father, former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during a US-Israeli airstrike in Tehran on February 28.
Firmness and resistance in the face of the Muslim world’s “most bitter enemies”, namely the United States and Israel, were among the most striking characteristics of the former Iranian supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei said.
He paid tribute to the late Hezbollah leaders for their fights, bravery and sacrifices.
Mojtaba Khamenei said she had confidence in the wisdom, intelligence and courage of Naim Qassem to thwart Israel’s plans and restore honor and prosperity to the Lebanese people.
The Assembly of Experts of Iran announced on March 8 the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme guide.
