Windows 11 Update KB5079391 Pulled by Microsoft Due to Installation Error

Is it possible to go a month, just one, without Windows 11 gifting us with an error screen or an emergency procedure? Apparently not. The optional March update, known as KB5079391, has just been abruptly pulled from Microsoft’s servers. The reason? A systematic installation error that halts the process and leaves users facing a cryptic message.

When trying to install on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, the system shuts down abruptly. The error message indicates that “some update files are missing or corrupt,” all sprinkled with error code 0x80073712.

Microsoft cut off the supply to prevent the situation from worsening, while they try to understand why their own servers are distributing files that seem unreadable.

This is even more frustrating as this update wasn’t empty. It was supposed to bring support for refresh rates of 1,000 Hz and above, a technology just introduced at CES 2026 for ultra-high-frequency monitors. It was also meant to refine the system’s voice command. In short, anticipated features that are now blocked.

A Catastrophic Start to 2026 for Windows

This new incident is not an isolated case, it is the continuation of a dark series. Just in March, Microsoft had to urgently release a fix for its security update from March 10. Thousands of users found themselves disconnected from Teams, OneDrive, and Office, with the system claiming there was no internet connection when everything else worked perfectly.

We seem to be back to the worst times of Windows 10. In January, two “out-of-cycle” updates had to be deployed to fix bugs affecting the opening of files stored on Dropbox or OneDrive. We are far from the promise of regained stability and a complete redesign focused on reliability.
