The plot takes place in a small village in the Jura as Christmas approaches. Michel and Cathy make a living from producing and selling Christmas trees with their 12-year-old son. The couple is going through a difficult period, marked by debt and family tensions.

One evening, Michel narrowly avoids a bear on the road. His car then hits that of a couple stopped on the side of the road. The accident caused the death of both occupants. Upon discovering the situation, Michel and Cathy make a radical decision: they try to hide the bodies.
The situation becomes complicated when they find in the trunk of the vehicle a bag containing approximately two million euros. This jackpot will lead the couple into a spiral of events where crime, trafficking and manipulation intertwine.
A blend of black comedy and rural thriller
With A bear in the JuraFranck Dubosc signs his third film as director. He co-wrote the screenplay with Sarah Kaminsky and takes inspiration from the cinema of the Coen brothers.
The director explains that he wanted to construct a story close to a “rural western”, set in a harsh and snowy countryside.
