On March 31, the official opening ceremony and the Grand Prix distinction in educational technology of the 44th AQUOPS symposium were hosted by Stéphanie Dionne, from the École Branchée, and Maxime Pelchat, from CADRE21.
To introduce the awards ceremony, Stéphanie delivered a vibrant “slam” speech, which moved the participants.
Slam is a form of oral poetry that lies between poetry, theater and sometimes rap. It is a text written to be said out loud, with rhythm, emotion and intention, where interpretation (the tone, the silences, the breathing) plays a role as important as the words themselves. Often accessible and anchored in reality, slam allows you to express ideas, experiences or positions in a committed and impactful way, with the aim of touching, making people think and making an impression.
Here is a recording of this vibrant plea for agency!
See it slam on agency

AGENTIVITÉ. THE VÉRITABLE MAGIE!
A word.
Who invites himself.
Which prints.
Who anchors himself.
2018
This is what Michelle Deschênes said:
Agentivité.
Human capacity…
to understand one’s environment…
and to act…
to improve things.
Act.
Not just understanding.
Not just trying.
Not just hope.
Act.
And since…
I see.
I see schools that are moving.
Teams that dare.
Teachers who transform… without fanfare, without glitter…
but with conviction.
I see young people
who are no longer just students.
They become… authors.
Creators.
Programmers.
Thinkers.
Citizens.
I see a school, Reception…
where writing was not a pleasure!
Des années
Several years of wondering.
to test approaches.
Àanalyser et éréjuster.
Not a magic recipe.
A process.
Everyone at their own pace.
And today?
Students who know where they are going.
Who understand their mistakes.
Who see their progress.
Here it is critical…
and who enjoy it!
WOW!
I also see…
young girls
to whom we had already stuck several heavy labels to bear.
Then someone said to themselves:
What if we did something else?
You code.
Logic.
Of creation.
They learned to program.
À résoudre.
À persévérer.
They won a championship.
But most of all…
they found each other.
Found a strength in her.
It’s…
it’s agency.
Which allows a young person to understand
“that he can”.
Not just passing an exam.
But act on your life.
And digital in all this?
It’s not a distraction.
He’s not an enemy.
Or a fad.
It’s a lever.
When it is intentional.
When it is educational.
When he’s human.
He opens doors.
It amplifies voices.
It multiplies the possibilities.
It allows a silent student to express themselves.
For another to collaborate.
And then to create.
He gives back power.
More pour ça…
you have to dare.
Dare to overcome fear.
Dare to tame the unknown.
Dare to transform your practices.
Because behind every hesitation…
there may be a student
who waits to be given his chance to act,
de réussir,
to be able to believe in him.
I am privileged.
I see these sparks.
I see these transformations.
I see these circles who choose not to give up.
And I tell you today…
What we do…
It counts.
What we dare…
That transforms.
And what we allow young people to become…
This far exceeds
report card grades.
So…
let’s continue.
To create spaces
where young people understand.
Where they choose.
Where they try.
Where they fail… and start again.
Where they become capable
to act on the world
On THEIR world.
Because education…
it’s not just transmitting.
It’s giving power.
The power to understand.
The power to choose.
The power to act.
And ça…
it’s agency
And my…
I want to name.
Not theories.
People.
Mes RockStarEDU.
At TopModèlesEDU.
Those who give young people a voice.
Who raises them.
Who build bridges between school… and family.
Those who dare.
Who doubt… but who move forward.
Who transform… for real.
Those who inspire me.
I’m a FAN of you!
A great admirer
