6 days out from Easter, the weather trends are beginning to take shape for Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th of April. The anticyclone is expected to dominate over a good part of the country with calm weather for the traditional Easter egg hunts. However, the skies will be more cloudy with some possible rain in the northwest.
What’s the weather looking like for the Easter weekend?
Medium-term forecasts suggest generally calm weather across France on Sunday and Monday, with light winds and a mostly stable atmosphere. Beautiful clearings could appear over much of the country thanks to the anticyclone for this Easter weekend. In the northwest, the weather could be more mixed, gray and rainy especially near the Breton and Normandy coasts.
As for temperatures, they could be seasonable, with significant daily temperature variations. They are expected to rise above seasonal norms nationally. Thanks to calm and dry weather, chilly mornings could be observed before the return of mild spring temperatures in the afternoons. Temperatures may remain cooler under the gray skies and rain in the northwest.
Watch out for the chill, especially in the mornings
In this context, the risk of chilly nights cannot be ruled out. For the early risers, particularly during Easter egg hunts in gardens or parks, a warm layer will be necessary. The grass could be chilly in the most exposed areas.
A seasonal atmosphere for family gatherings
Despite this potential chill, the atmosphere should remain pleasant during the day, with generally calm weather conducive to outdoor activities. A typical early spring weather: still a bit cool in the mornings, then milder and brighter in the afternoons, especially in the southern 2/3 of the country. However, temperatures may remain cool throughout the day in the northwest under the gray skies.
Trend to be further refined
At this point in time, this medium-term trend should be taken with caution. Scenarios may still change in the coming days, especially regarding the unsettled weather in the northwest.
Nevertheless, a scenario seems to be emerging: for this Easter weekend, there may be a mix of seasonal weather, still a bit undecided between winter and spring.
