It’s now official: Olivier Pantaloni will not play overtime at FC Lorient. The former coach of AC Ajaccio (59 years old), who joined the Breton club in 2024, announced, in the columns of Ouest France, his departure at the end of his contract in June.

This, despite the negotiations discussed for several weeks and a proposal to continue on the Lorient bench, while a new sole shareholder since January, the American group Black Knight Football Club, should modify the management team.

“I still feel that there is this distrust, and from there, I refuse to work in these conditions.”

I’ve had discussions with people who might not be here next year, it’s a bit weird.”he confided in a long interview to our colleagues. He talks in particular about  distrust of leaders from the start of his adventure, evoking the support and insistence of Laurent Abergel (locker room executive and former ACA player under his orders) to convince them so that he obtains the position.  After two years of working at FC Lorient, I tried to show who I was, what I was capable of doing, I still feel that there is this distrust, and from there, I refuse to work in these conditions “, he told the regional daily.

In addition to Olivier Pantaloni, his main assistant, Yannick Cahuzac, also at the end of his contract, would follow suit and also leave the Breton bench. The duo of Corsican technicians would therefore leave the Merlus after two full seasons: a direct return to Ligue 1 and a comfortable stay within the elite, the club currently being ranked in 9th place.

Sunday, Lorient travels to Lyon for the 29th day before hosting Marseille a week later.
