Opel’s Formula E project is gaining momentum: the fast-paced manufacturer announces a first recruit in its organization chart with a view to its commitment to the Formula Electric World Championship.

Opel focuses on youth in Formula E
Well known in the world of car racing, the
25 year old German pilot joins the brand’s official team ase test and development pilot. She will do her first public appearance on April 21 and 22 during the official presentation, in France, of the new GEN4 single-seaters of the 100% electric discipline.
“With the signing of Sophia, we are sending a strong signal in favor of young talents in electric motorsport,” déclare Jörg Schrott, Team Principal. “The precision of his technical feedback as well as his analytical approach, both in the simulator and on the track, will play an essential role in the development of our GEN4 package.
Its modern approach also fits perfectly with our ‘OMG! GSE’ which highlights the emotional dimension of our high-performance electric models. We thus combine targeted development of talents and a high level of sporting standards, while strengthening the visibility of a new generation of drivers combining performance and media presence.”

moved to automobiles in 2015. It stood out in
Ginetta Junior – where certain premises shone like Lando Norris or, more recently, Freddie Slater– by becoming the youngest driver to win a race in the British competition.
After passing through death ADAC Formula 4in the European Championship Formula 3 and in Formula Regional European
Championship (FRECA), she enters history by becoming the first woman to score points
and à get on the podium in German F4 then F3. Due to a lack of satisfactory results and single-seater opportunities, she then continued her career in endurance and GT. Driving prototypes lmp2, she gets on the podium in European Le Mans Seriesranks in the top 10 (9th) of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020and participates in
WECÂ as well as
DTM. After having tried, without much success, to bounce back in F3here she is knocking on the door of 100% electric competition.

Next April 21 and 22 at
Paul Ricard du Castellet circuitFloersch will take the wheel of the single-seaterGEN4
from Opel. The Munich driver has already covered her first kilometers in a simulator and discovered the world of the brand duringa visit to its headquarters in Rüsselsheim. She is now fully integrated into the testing program, supporting the team in development and simulator work, while gaining experience during sessions dedicated to
rookies.
