The players Nintendo will have to wait a little longer than expected to discover 007 First Light, the next video game featuring the famous James Bond. A targeted setback

The Danish studio, known for the series Hitmanexplains that he wants to offer the best possible experience across all media. In fact, this means that the Switch 2 version will require more work time. No precise date has been communicated for this edition, other than a release window set for next summer. For players equipped with a Nintendo console, the wait will therefore be extended even though the game had already suffered a first delay (all platforms combined this time).

This delay of a few weeks/months seems to indicate that optimization on Nintendo’s new hybrid hardware remains more difficult than expected for certain ambitious titles, in particular when these games are based on detailed environments with realistic rendering, and therefore with higher technical requirements.

The Switch 2 confirms its difficulties with certain demanding ports

The case of 007 First Light is not isolated. For several months, several publishers have claimed to have encountered complications in adapting certain games to the Switch 2. This does not mean that the machine systematically lacks power, but rather that the balance between visual quality and fluidity remains a little more complicated to find than on other supports, which necessarily slows down the production schedule.

IO Interactive plays it safe on a major license

For IO Interactive, the stakes are all the more important as it is a major return of James Bond in video games. The studio obviously cannot afford a lackluster launch caused by a version that is too technically inferior or poorly optimized. Delaying the Switch 2 version therefore appears to be a prudent choice, intended to preserve the quality of the entire project.
