“Simone de Beauvoir, the adventure of being yourself” followed by a debate presented by Rebecca Fitoussi in “Un monde en doc” – Saturday April 11 at 9 p.m.

 

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of her death, how modern is Simone de Beauvoir’s life and work? Why does she remain a reference for the majority of feminists around the world? Why is “The Second Sex†still an essential book?

This film retraces the trajectory, the lines of force of one of the freest spirits of the 21st century. The ambition of this documentary is to make the author of “Memories of a Tidy Young Girl” alive and contemporary. For this exceptional archives, and the testimonies of powerful women from diverse backgrounds.

Leïla Slimani insists on the importance of Beauvoir throughout the Arab world, the modernity of his struggles. Elisabeth Badinter, who knew him well, recounts with emotion the way in which Beauvoir “opened the cage for all women”. But also Titiou Lecoq, feminist who points out the relevance still today of the analyzes of the “Second Sex” even “in front of the basket of dirty laundry”.

The whole thing depicted and told in a very “pop” way by Fabrice Gardel and Mathieu Weschler.
