For several years, a group of French authors and artists have been busy bringing fiery characters to life and reviving them. Centaur Publicationsone of the oldest American comic book publishers (1936-1942), whose heroes are now royalty-free. Enough to motivate the creation of modern adventures with these sets of superheroes, under the leadership ofJean-Michel Ferragati. After a successfully financed anthology last year, the publisher started again on a new project, which is both a work of restoration of old comicbooks and an extension of this adventure.
The New Adventures of Tippy Taylor
It is now almost a century since the authorGeorge Loomis Jr. (of which very little is known today) had published nine issues of a series entitledFantasy Islethe series having been present in the pages ofAmazing Funny Mysteries between 1938 and 1940. We follow a journalist fromMetropolitan Times, Tippy Taylorwho goes to investigate on the other side of the world. But his plane crashes, and the journalist and the aviator end up on a strange island, where they will meet dinosaurs and a strange wizard who will give them a quest to complete so that they can return home. In short, a Tintin which would come across the Mysterious Island, among others. The problem: is that the history ofTippy Taylor will never be finished.
The project ofCentaur Chronicles withFantasy Isle is therefore twofold: both to bring together the nine restored original numbers in an album, but also to imagine a continuation (and a conclusion?) to the adventure with five new episodes signed byJMFwithCyrille Munaroto the design and colors ofReedman. Everything will be accompanied by editorial texts to place the context of the release of these episodes.
The campaign also allows you to discover other projectsCentaur Chroniclesfrom the main saga to some other outings such asPhantom ou Chibi. Commissions are also part of the compensation to be recovered to support the project.
