In a desire to diversify its tourist offering and adapt to climate challenges, the Plateau d’Hauteville is taking a major step forward. In April 2026, the French industrial group MND and the investor BAGHAIRA formalized the launch of a rail toboggan project “Fun Coaster”, an investment of 3 million euros intended to transform the attractiveness of this mid-altitude territory.

A structuring facility near Lyon

Located a stone’s throw from the Lyon metropolis, the Hauteville plateau focuses on a fun and sustainable activity to attract visitors throughout the year. Carried by the group BAGHAIRAproject owner, this new equipment responds to a “4 seasons” diversification strategy that has become essential for mid-mountain resorts.

“This project illustrates our desire to offer new and accessible experiences, capable of boosting attendance throughout the year,†underlines Augustin Dufaure de Lajartefrom the BAGHAIRA group.

Performance and immersion: The key figures

The rail sled, the opening of which is provided for fin 2026promises a thrilling experience while respecting landscape integration:

  • Course : More than a kilometer of winding route.
  • Vitesse : Peaks that can reach 40 km/h.
  • Débit : A reception capacity of almost 300 sleds per hour.
  • Technology: Le systems Fun Coaster from MND uses a lightweight monorail, adaptable to all terrains and equipped with automated braking systems for maximum safety.

French know-how for export

For the Savoyard group MNDthis contract marks the first installation of its sled solution in the Jura massif. This is the fourth achievement of this type for the industrialist, after notable successes in Bosco Gurin (Switzerland), and projects underway in Massanutten (United States) and Chimgan (Uzbekistan).

Entirely designed and manufactured in France, this infrastructure confirms MND’s leading position in cable mobility and thrill-seeking leisure solutions, with a network now extending over 49 pays.

The expert eye of Mister Travel News: The shift to “snowless”

This investment of 3 million euros is a strong signal for the hotel industry and local businesses. By securing an activity independent of the snow cover, the Plateau d’Hauteville positions itself as a credible “outdoor” short-stay destination compared to the major resorts of the Alps. For travel agencies and regional tour operators, this is a new selling point for business seminars and local family tourism.
