Puremedias: You who were already shocked to have exceeded the milestone of 100,000 euros in winnings, I imagine that joining the Masters of “Don’t forget the lyrics” is still above the level of emotion?
Sandy: It completely overwhelmed me. I was really so happy to tell myself that suddenly the adventure would never end.

What goal did you set out with when you applied for the show for the second time?
Taking the microphone was really my first objective. Afterwards, we always give ourselves small goals to achieve in increasing numbers. But the initial goal was to take the microphone. Afterwards, there you go, I obviously hoped to earn a little bit of money.

I told myself that I had to take risks

Sandy

Is there anything you changed between your first participation and your second in terms of your revision methods?
What has changed is stress management. I actually went to someone who taught me some anchor points to try to relax me once I was on set so I could gain a little more confidence.

You made a brilliant start to your second attempt. You won 100,000 euros in less than a week, a performance only achieved by Margaux (number 2 in the Maestros ranking, editor’s note). To what do you attribute this unusual success from the start?
I explain it by taking a big risk. I think I was really in the excitement of the game, and so I didn’t ask myself too many questions. As long as it didn’t go back to zero, I continued, I continued, I continued.

There was also perhaps a slightly vindictive state of mind, you who had lost against Benoît extremely narrowly the first time.
Yes, it worked. And then, I really went there to play, to have fun, I told myself that I had to take risks, because in any case, it’s by daring that it can work. And then it paid off, so it was nice.

Your loved ones are loyal to you on set and regularly come to support you. What part of the success do you attribute to them in your career?
Maureen, who accompanied me on my first broadcasts, was a great psychological support since the start of the adventure. We met six years ago at the very beginning of my revisions, she also took part in a show, so we always supported each other morally. She’s really my revision partner, with whom we always pushed each other upwards. And I have my husband who also supported me enormously, because inevitably, he underwent the revisions on a daily basis. He also always pushed me to continue, to not give up.

And then there is Nagui! How do you live this experience alongside him? From our screen, we feel you are complicit on the set.
I already had a very positive image of him, so I can’t say it’s a great surprise, because I imagined he was like that. But the feeling went down really well, he has a lot of humor, me too. He likes to tease me, and me too.

Your ambitions with your winnings have evolved greatly over the course of your victories. At the beginning, you mentioned a freezer, then a trip with your loved ones, the purchase of equipment for your mother’s company. What about now that you have reached the 200,000 euros milestone?
It would be to do makeup training. These are slightly more professional ambitions, prospects for professional development, we will say.

You also won tickets for the “Star Academy” tour, offered by Nikos Aliagas himself. Are you a fan of the show, a season or a particular candidate?
Generally speaking, I follow all seasons of “Star Academy”. I don’t have any favorite candidates, but I watch the dailies and I find the relationships they have within the castle very touching. You should know that I have been on “Don’t forget the lyrics” review groups for six years, that I have made lots of friends in the industry and that we organize weekends where we see each other and where we experience the same passion. So, it reflects a little bit what’s happening at Star Ac.

If I can take my revenge on Benoît, I won’t deprive myself

Sandy

To return to the Masters, you will meet all the best maestros. Is there one in particular that inspired you or that you really followed the journey for?
Kristofer, yes. He was a bit on edge, but he was really excellent. I even went to see him in the audience. I had randomly stumbled upon his shows, and I loved the way he had fun, the way he took advantage of the set. I told myself that I, too, wanted to experience that. It’s true that his journey had really inspired me, I had even sent him a message to tell him that it had put me back into my revisions and that I wanted to return to the show thanks to him.

You will also meet Benoît again. Will there be revenge in the air during this competition?
Above all, we will benefit from being able to sing together again, having both achieved our objectives. But yes, it’s certain that if I can win, I won’t deprive myself.

What is your goal now after reaching the Masters? Climb the rankings? Are you able to project yourself a little further than this evening?
The goal is to enjoy the field, to enjoy every moment because I know that it could be the last. And if I can scrape a few small places in the ranking to be able to enjoy the Masters for several years, that would be great. But every little place gained will already be something exceptional every time.
