A century of history should be celebrated as it should be! This Friday, April 3, 2026, the tourist office of Forges-les-Eaux (Seine-Maritime) organized a press conference in the form of a breakfast to present all the festivities planned to celebrate its century of history, which will take place from April 25 to October 2, 2026.
An immersion in the 1920s
For this meeting, the organizers pulled out all the stops to offer a immersion in the 1920s : costumes, dishes and even pastries from the period have been prepared. “100 years is really a very symbolic anniversary, it’s a century of shared stories, of projects carried out with local actors.
To celebrate this memorable century, we all worked together hand in hand to present a program that can touch all generations of residents,” introduces Isabelle Klotz, fourth deputy mayor, in charge of tourism, sustainable development of culture and communication.
It’s a program that highlights those who have brought the region to life for a century…
The program was precisely at the heart of this press conference. Natacha Morel, director of the Forges-les-Eaux tourist office, returned with local actors to what awaits the general public from Saturday April 25.
“There will already be a highlight from the morning of the first day of festivities with the presence of the 1900 orchestra which will offer waltzes and period music,” explains Natacha Morel.
Several exhibitions, including one dedicated to life in the 1920s will be presented on large panels, “custom-made wooden structures designed with noble and reusable materials,” explains Isabelle Klotz.
Sport in the spotlight
The Battice-Forges-les-Eaux twinning committee, with the help of the municipality of Catenay, worked in particular to highlight sport, with a initiation au GateBall offered on Saturday May 9 at 2 p.m. at the Stade Patrick Desrue. “ It’s a sport inspired by croquet, very popular in Asia, with two teams of five players who play a 30-minute match. The objective is to score as many points as possible by putting the ball in three doors,” says the committee.
Saturday June 20 at 8 p.m. at the Saint-Éloi-de-Forges-les-Eaux Church, Jérôme Brimeux, organist, will present an organ center. “ The organ was redone in 2024. It was unplayable because it had taken on water. We made an estimate to restore it,” explains Jérôme Brimeux.
Children are not forgotten…: tourist posters will be produced by the primary schools and the college of Forges-les-Eaux. “The idea is to show how children see tourism over time,” explains Pauline Arnould, communications manager at the tourist office.
Back in time at school
Among other highlights, on Saturday September 19 at 10 a.m., the teams from the Forges-les-Eaux media library will offer a special dictation year 1920“…with the outfit of a professor of the time, donkey caps…”, we distill, while maintaining the effect of surprise.
An exhibition, “The School of Yesteryear”, from the Canopé network will be on display from September 14 to October 9, also at the media library.
The highlight of the show will take place around Andelle Lake ”
To close these seven months of celebrations, we naturally have to leave a lasting impression in order to end on a high note. Meet on Friday October 2 from 8:30 p.m. around Andelle Lake for entertainment and a fire show.
Christophe Holleville, one of the organizers of this show, naturally wanted to keep the mystery… “There will be a big surprise, but I don’t want to say too much at this stage,” he smiles.
See you in a little over twenty days to go back in time…
