The Coordinating Minister of the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, received a visit from the President of the Australian Productivity Commission Danielle Wood and the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Roderick Brazier in Jakarta.
The meeting focused on enhancing economic cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, particularly in strengthening productivity, developing human resources, and enhancing the economic resilience of both countries.
“It is important to note that amidst the global dynamics full of challenges, Indonesia is focusing on strengthening the productivity reduction movement that goes hand in hand with the application of efficiency to drive sustainable economic growth,” declared Airlangga in a statement on Saturday, March 28.
He also emphasized the importance of digital transformation through the application of e-Government as strategic measures to promote productivity, efficiency, and performance in the public sector.
Furthermore, Airlangga expressed his full recognition and support for the continuity of the PROSPERA program.
Regarding the program’s Phase 2, the Indonesian government welcomes the Australian Productivity Commission’s participation, especially in providing evidence-based policy recommendations to support policy reform and increase national productivity.
“As part of PROSPERA Phase II, the Australian Productivity Commission is expected to conduct research on developing a workforce suitable for technological advancements. Additionally, formulating national recommendations regarding the use of artificial intelligence in Indonesia is an important aspect to consider,” explained Airlangga.
Moreover, Airlangga highlighted the urgency of tax reform as part of the national priority agenda and hopes that this issue will be central to the implementation of PROSPERA Phase II.
Meanwhile, Danielle expressed Australia’s willingness to enhance cooperation in strengthening the capacity of the public services sector.
According to her, these efforts aim to encourage increased productivity, investment, and sustainable economic growth in the future.
Similarly, Roderick emphasized the Australian government’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
