For over two years, Catherine Wieland received severe incapacity benefits. However, during this time, she was frequently seen out and about, getting beauty treatments, and traveling abroad. She will have to repay all the amounts received.

A British woman has just discovered that one cannot claim to be unable to leave the house while posting vacation memories from Cancun. For over two years, between 2021 and 2024, 33-year-old Catherine Wieland received disability benefits, claiming to have such severe anxiety that it prevented her from leaving her home, cooking, or even bathing alone, as reported by the BBC. During this period, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the British equivalent of the CAF, paid her a total of 23,662 pounds, which is nearly 28,000 euros.

However, during these two years, Catherine Wieland lived a lifestyle that was quite incompatible with her declared condition. Bank statements revealed 76 beauty salon appointments, tanning sessions, regular manicures, visits to a private dentist, and no less than 60 outings to pubs, clubs, and restaurants.
