Second shark attack in 24 hours: 11-year-old saved by his surfboard in Australia

It’s a small miracle. After a first almost fatal attack this Sunday, a second child, aged 11, survived another shark attack this Monday north of Sydney. According to Australian police, the boy was attacked but was able to defend himself with his surfboard.

According to initial information from maritime rescue services, the predator tore off a piece of its board, and left several other bite marks. The child escaped miraculously unharmed.

The latter confirmed that the conditions were unfortunately met to favor shark attacks in recent days, notably due to a weekend of heavy rain which affected the quality of the water and the visibility of swimmers.

To try to stem the phenomenon and avoid a third successive attack, the authorities have banned swimming on several beaches around Sydney Harbour.
