Belgium: the funny experience of the Red Devils on the tarmac of Atlanta Airport.

Less than 48 hours after the Belgians’ overwhelming victory against the United States, Rudi Garcia’s players had a rather special trip to Chicago. The American airport security conducted a direct check of the Red Devils on the tarmac.

A trip to the United States that the Belgium players will not soon forget. Kevin de Bruyne’s teammates emerged victorious on Saturday against the United States in a friendly match (5-2), in a strange game where the USA opened the scoring only to suffer for 45 minutes and concede five consecutive goals to the Red Devils… devilishly.

The match was also marked by jerseys that were difficult to distinguish, with the Belgians wearing off-white and the USA in white stripes. Disruptive for the players, spectators, and viewers.

Red Devils individually checked

This Monday, Rudi Garcia’s players, departing for Chicago to join Illinois, where they will face Mexico on Tuesday night to Wednesday (3 am), were caught by the airport security in Atlanta. Just as they arrived on the tarmac and were ready to board, the Devils had to undergo a real security check, one by one, right in front of the plane. An unusual situation for the Belgian team, whose players seemed rather surprised in the photos.

“Endless wait at the airport” for the French as well

If the Belgian group experienced a taste of the American airport experience that awaits them this summer, Didier Deschamps, coach of the French national team, had already complained in a press conference about the endless checks by American authorities at Boston airport: “Upon our arrival, we spent an incredible amount of time at the airport, with checks that I had never seen since I have been in football. We adapt,” said the French coach in a press conference this Saturday.

Meanwhile, these long waiting times did not dampen the French team’s desire to play as they emerged victorious twice by a score of 2-1 against Brazil last Thursday and 3-1 against Colombia this Sunday during their American tour.
