In a brief statement, Fenerbahçe announced the end of its collaboration with the star of the French men’s volleyball team. “The contract that bound us to Earvin Ngapeth, player of the men’s volleyball team of Fenerbahçe, has been terminated by mutual agreement,” the Turkish club communicated through its social media channels. We bring this to the public’s knowledge.”

That’s it. The two-time Olympic champion (2020 and 2024) had joined Istanbul at the end of December 2024. He then left France and Poitiers for a short-lived adventure after less than a year and a half in Turkey.

To Tours next season

Despite the elimination of the Turkish team in the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup – the second most important European competition – the end of the season in Istanbul was not lacking in significance. Ngapeth’s former teammates will compete in the Turkish Cup semi-finals.

Last year, the contribution of the Frenchman was essential as he was voted MVP of the Final Four after a final marked by his 21 scored points. While Fenerbahçe did not provide any clues to the reasons for this departure, the 35-year-old volleyball player will now be able to focus on the next steps in his career.

Ngapeth will make his return to the French Championship next season. His arrival at Tours for two years had already been announced by the club currently leading the top division.
