At a few weeks before its return, “Mask Singer” promises to shake up its own codes. Season 9, expected on Friday, April 24 at 9:10 pm on TF1, will still focus on what has been the hallmark of the show since its beginnings: spectacular costumes, performances tailored for grand spectacles, and a quartet of investigators. Camille Combal is back as the host, alongside Kev Adams, Chantal Ladesou, Laurent Ruquier, and Michaël Youn. This time, the production clearly wants to shake up the rules. Indeed, one of the big innovations of this season revolves around a completely crazy idea on paper: for the first time in the history of “Mask Singer,” a celebrity will perform without a mask. However, this character, named the Clown, will be transformed by professional makeup artists and will change appearance in each episode. This will surely confuse the investigators!
During the press conference, producer Anthony Meunier explained how much this challenge had made him doubt. “We have this huge innovation that is a world first and is quite brilliant!” he exclaimed, before admitting “being very scared”. Ultimately, the experience reportedly went very well on set. “It’s working extremely well, and the investigators are very excited,” he assured.
Un casting cinq étoiles pour cette 9e saison
As for the casting, the channel announces 23 celebrities, including two international stars. The channel even promises “the most prestigious cast in history,” with personalities awarded at the César Awards, Victoires de la Musique, Molières, Grammy Awards, NRJ Music Awards, and MTV Music Awards. Among the revealed costumes, viewers will see the Mummy, the Owl, the Cyborg, the Panther, the Werewolf, the Donkey, the Pebble, the Bouquet, the Venetian, and the Russian Dolls.
Another change: the game will be tougher for the investigators. This season, each incorrect guess will cost them a point, shaking up the celebrity prediction game. With new mechanics and a colorful cast, one question arises: who will succeed Ycare this year?
