A new cultural event is set to take place in Quimper (Finistère). From April 3 to 5, 2026, the Synchrone association will launch the first edition of Shok Noir, a festival dedicated to alternative cultures, at the Dan-Ar-Braz space.
Behind the project is Gérald Cossard, president of the association since 2018. With his team, he advocates for an event with a strong identity, centered around aesthetics that are not widely represented locally: punk, post-punk, cold wave, new wave, EBM, and dark techno. “There was a lack,” he believes, referring to a cultural offering in Quimper that is still not very open to these universes.
Over three days, the festival will gather local, national, and international artists, with a programming based on ambiance. The lineup includes approximately 25 artists.
Some of the names include Moscow Death Brigade, The Hacker, Terence Fixmer, Kas Product, NNHMN, Vox Low, Droges, and Nomenklatur.
They will all be present at the festival. The complete program can be found on the festival’s website.
But Shok Noir will not be limited to concerts. The association aims to offer a broader event, including a market of creators, exhibitions, tattoo artists, food trucks, and daytime activities.
The organizers of this first edition aim to diversify the local cultural offering while giving Quimper a new visibility. Early feedback shows interest beyond the region, with communication reaching several French and European cities.
Despite the risks involved, the association is committed to making the event a success. With technical aspects, artist hospitality, and logistics to manage, the organization requires a significant investment. Around a hundred volunteers will be mobilized for the event.
Looking beyond this initial edition, Shok Noir aims to become a lasting festival. The association is considering a follow-up, with the idea of establishing this event in the cultural landscape of Quimper.
Practical information: From April 3 to 5 at the Dan-Ar-Braz space on Stang-Bihan Street in Quimper. Ticket prices range from 24 to 70 euros.
