On Friday, April 10, starting at 5 pm, the Armagnac cinema in Barbotan les Thermes will screen the documentary film “Welcome to Europe.”

This film screening is supported by the Occitanie Region. The screening and debate will take place with the directors Thomas Bornot and Cyril Montana, along with local associations committed to helping people in exile. These exchanges will allow for a sharing of perspectives and experiences about the realities of migration.

The film Welcome to Europe follows the journey of individuals who have left their country, loved ones, and previous lives from Paris to the borders of Europe. Through their stories, political and scientific analyses, and the encounter with Yadullah, a young Afghan who arrived in Paris in 2022, Welcome to Europe challenges misconceptions and xenophobia to reveal the truth behind immigration fiction.

Through this public screening and debate, the film highlights these realities and encourages a thoughtful and civic discussion, nearly 80 years after the major waves of exile in the 20th century. Cazaubon-Barbotan, along with Auch and Fleurance, is one of the three towns in Gers hosting this film.
