Last week, Big Brother Canada viewers were very vocal about their disappointment with the twist of the Jury House, which gagged several jury members for the final vote.
The season winner, Gabrielle Côté, spoke about the issue in an interview with Showbizz.net.
“Big Brother is not a game that is meant to be fair,” she said. “It’s a game designed for twists to benefit some people and disadvantage others. And that’s why we love this game. So, as much as it wasn’t my favorite twist to live through, I’m glad it existed because it added an extra challenge.”
“While I was experiencing it, I didn’t find it so interesting, but looking back, I think it’s important to have things like that,” she added.
She continued, “It was difficult for me to do this because it wasn’t how I played. And having to lie to my allies was hard because I had chosen to only tell the truth to certain people. And the game forced me to lie to them. I wouldn’t have done it naturally, but I find it interesting that the game made me do it and confronted me about it.”
“I think that’s what makes Big Brother, Big Brother. If everything was smooth and fair and equal, it wouldn’t be interesting,” she stated.
“What we want is for it to be gripping, and for things to confuse people. That’s why even the redemptions, even the things that weren’t necessarily in my favor, I can see that as a spectator, it enriches the game. And there have always been (more or less) seven people in the jury, so I don’t see why this year would be any different,” she explained.
It is worth mentioning that Gab won her season with six of the seven votes from the final jury. Congratulations to the great champion of this sixth season!
