Rignac. Cinema and Rural Life: Four Films on the Bill for the 13th Edition

The Georges-Rouquier association invites you to the 13th edition of Cinema and Rurality at the Georges-Rouquier space.

On Friday 3 April at 3pm and 8.30pm: “Vingt Dieux”, 2024, 1h30, a film by Louise Courvoisier, winner of the 2025 César Award for Best First Film with Maëwëne Barthélémy (2025 César Award for Best Female Revelation). This film was awarded at Cannes in 2025 and won the top prize at the Angoulême Film Festival. In addition to numerous awards, the press praised the performance of this first film that attracted 950,000 viewers, a film led by non-professional actors like in Farrebique and Biquefarre. Totone, 18, spends most of his time drinking beers and roaming the Jura balls with his group of friends. But reality catches up with him: he has to take care of his 7-year-old sister.

On Friday 3 April at 5pm: “Hiver nomade”, a French documentary by M. Von Sturler, 2013, 1h25. Carole and Pascal embark on their winter transhumance with three donkeys, four dogs, and eight hundred sheep. For the night, a tarpaulin and sheepskins as the only shelter. A winter odyssey in the heart of the mountains, nature, and the rural world.

Saturday 4 April at 3pm and 8.30pm: “Berger”, a French film by Sophie Deraspe, 2025, 1h53 starring Félix Antoine Duval and Solène Rigot. On a whim, Mathyas swaps his life as an advertiser in Montreal for that of a shepherd in Provence. Hoping to find tranquility, he discovers a demanding job and often exhausted breeders. But when he meets Elise, who has also just left everything behind, they are entrusted with a flock of 800 sheep and embark on a transhumance.

On Saturday 4 April at 5pm, “Femmes de la terre”, 2024, 1h30, a documentary by Édouard Bergeon. Historical and personal archives, testimonies, and reports to pay tribute to all these women, too long considered “invisible,” and finally give them the recognition they deserve.
