Jasmine Roy is the godmother of musical comedy in France. She knows everyone, from Luc Plamondon to Jean-Luc Choplin, has worked with many, from Michel Legrand to Laurent Lafitte on all kinds of shows, from The Lion King to Gypsy to the Philharmonie de Paris.

She spots emerging talent, advises directors like Laurent Pelly, and is also a vocal coach, just like Laurent Lafitte, who mentions her in his interviews when talking about his role in La Cage aux folles.

The general public knows her mainly for her role during 5 years in the Star Academy, where she was also a vocal coach for Pop Star and the Nouvelle Star. But Jasmine Roy is not just a teacher in many schools, she also performs on stage.

Arriving in France from her native Quebec to play Sadia in Starmania at the Théâtre Mogador directed by Lewis Furey in 1994, we have seen her regularly at the Théâtre du Châtelet, as well as at the Opéra de Toulon or the Rhine in American musical comedy classics like Fiddler on the Roof, Wonderful Town by Leonard Bernstein, or Kiss Me Kate by Cole Porter. She is currently in the classic by Stephen Sondheim, Company, which has toured many opera houses in France and will be at the Châtelet next year. Lastly, Jasmine Roy hosts the bimonthly event of the Châtelet Theatre, the Châtelet Musical Club.

Coming to the Châtelet Musical Club means meeting professionals, sharing emotions, meeting artists, and greeting the host of the ceremony, Jasmine Roy, who presents – and sometimes sings! – like the host of an art and trial cabaret. The Châtelet Musical Club takes shape, with a succession of acts that recall both Le Petit Conservatoire de la chanson by Mireille and The Judy Garland Show. The CMC is up to date and refuses any form of confinement, whether it’s in terms of genres, formats, or styles. May 30, 2026, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Putting It Together by Stephen Sondheim featuring Jasmine Roy, Olivier Breitman, Dov Milstein, and musical director Thierry Boulanger on the piano at the Liberté, Scène Nationale in Toulon on 24, 26, and 28 April 2026.
