Olivier Schoonejans: For tour operators, prices for this summer have already been negotiated, so there will be no big increases for summer trips…
Julie Frère, spokesperson for Testachats: Until the fall normally.
OS: Can we increase the price if the deposit is already paid?
JFÂ: We must distinguish several situations.
The premiere, package trips via a tour operator. There, yes, we can indeed see ourselves confronted with an increase. But only under certain conditions. This increase must be explicitly provided for in the contract. It must be linked to specific elements, for example, an increase in the price of fuel or taxes, or the exchange rate, and it must be really clearly justified. In addition to this, you must be informed of this increase at least 20 days before departure. And if the increase is more than 8% of the total price of your trip, you have the right to cancel the trip free of charge.
Pour airlinesif you have simply purchased a plane ticket, the price is final. Good news. Once you have purchased it, airlines can no longer change it, no fuel surcharge after the fact.
Regarding hotelsit’s the same principle. Once you have your reservation made, prices cannot be changed. Small downside to that, I would simply say look carefully at the general conditions when you book in countries outside the European Union, because there the regulations may be different.
