El Paso Leaders Plan Science Festival to Spark Student Interest in STEM

Officials on Tuesday announced new details for the upcoming El Paso Science Festival, a free, two-day event aimed at getting local students excited about STEM.

Organizers said the festival will be held at the El Paso Convention Center on April 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The event is expected to offer what organizers described as a crucial educational experience for kids, with opportunities to interact with hands-on projects, watch live experiments and hear directly from real-world science experts.

“So giving the community a chance to explore STEAM and STEM through this amazing opportunity just to get to work with other agencies and explore it in a fun manner not just in a classroom behind closed doors is really neat and exciting because again without visiting these technologies and these different arts and maths and stuff how are they going to know what exists out there?” said Alysha Swann, vice president of community transformation at La Nube.
