Marine Le Pen rules out being Prime Minister. Speaking to Le Parisien on March 31, the leader of the National Rally reiterated that she is not seeking a consolation prize if unable to run in the presidential election.

“It is agreed between Jordan (Bardella) and me that, if justice does not prevent me, I will be a candidate for president and he will be my Prime Minister,” she reaffirmed, dismissing recent polls favoring the young RN president.

“I personally see very little difference in these polls. The main thing is that the RN candidate, whoever it may be, remains extremely high in the first round. And there is currently very little risk of missing out on the second round,” she assessed.

Le Pen, currently facing ineligibility due to a judgment in the European Parliament assistants case, will find out on July 7 if she can run in the next presidential election in April or May 2027.

She also downplayed differences with Jordan Bardella, who seems more open to alliances with right-wing parties. “If we consider the possibility of me being a presidential candidate and him being Prime Minister, it is perfectly within his role to seek to broaden a majority for which he would have the responsibility,” she stated.

Recent polls from Elabe and Odoxa show the RN candidate leading significantly in the first round but at risk of being defeated in the second round by former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe.
