U of G Veterinary, Agriculture Sciences Rank Among Best in World

The University of Guelph has been recognized as one of the top institutions globally, ranking in a record 15 subjects in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Ranked number one in Canada, the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) has climbed to fourth place in the global rankings, confirming its reputation in veterinary science, research, and education.

The agriculture and forestry programs at the University of Guelph also achieved first place in Canada, reaching 14th globally, up from 30th in 2025.

The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) is known for its strength in food and agricultural science research and recently launched a new Master of Sustainable Agriculture program.

Both OAC and OVC ranked first in Canada for academic and employer reputation, as well as top five in Canada for research citations.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management program at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics ranked second in Canada and has consistently placed among the top 100 globally for the past five years.

The University entered three new subjects in the global rankings this year, including business and management studies, geophysics, and development studies.

In environmental sciences, U of G ranked seventh in Canada and among the top 200 globally, while anatomy and physiology, as well as biological science, are ranked 10th in Canada.

Dr. Rene Van Acker, president and vice-chancellor, emphasized the significance of these rankings for students and the communities they serve.

The QS Rankings recognized U of G as a top-tier Canadian university, highlighting its excellence in teaching and research across various academic disciplines.
