On Wednesday, March 25th, the 10th regional final of the CIC Start Innovation Awards was held. Organized by CIC Lyonnaise de Banque, this tenth edition brought together entrepreneurs, partners, and ecosystem actors with a common goal: to showcase innovative startups from the southeast of France. For this edition, 20 innovative start-ups were selected from 308 applications. Eight were chosen by the jury made up of leaders from major companies and institutions in the region.
After the presentations, the jury awarded the Marseille-based company Ventio (specializing in sensitive health data processing and medical image analysis) with the “Disruptive Innovation” prize.
In the “Impact” category, the agri-food producer Maltivor from Vourles, south of Lyon, won the award. This innovative company valorizes malt waste to produce sustainable substitutes that can partially replace wheat flour, ranging from 5% to 30% in flour blends.
Additionally, with over 350 public votes, the Aix-en-Provence-based company, VB Tech, won the “Growth” prize for their digital twin technology for the brain to test therapeutic strategies before intervention.
In parallel, this anniversary edition also highlighted young talent with a dedicated competition for students called CIC Start Innovation Awards At School. The jury honored Asma Benyahia and Kaïs Bourdache, who are incubated at Team at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne, for their research project Defuse: a portable device to better detect, anticipate, and support stressful situations in autistic individuals and their caregivers.
