Owner of Olympique de Marseille, Frank McCourt, is looking for new investors to boost the club’s finances and aim for “the highest level,” as he stated in an interview with JDD.

McCourt, the American owner of OM, is once again reaching out to potential investors. He confirms his intention to welcome new financial partners. “I believe it’s time to start this process because I really want Marseille to take it to the next level,” he told JDD. “I am very proud of what we have achieved and the respect we have gained in the world of football.”

According to McCourt, leading the club since the fall of 2016, this step is crucial for further progress. “Reaching the highest level, and hopefully aiming for the highest level, will require additional investments,” McCourt explains. “We want to find the right strategic partner to achieve this. It’s still too early to say more, we are reflecting, organizing, but we are in that mindset.”

During the interview, the businessman also confirmed the departure of Medhi Benatia from his position as director of football at the end of the season, after his notice period, which was extended until June. McCourt thanked Benatia for agreeing to stay for the remainder of the season, emphasizing his importance in finishing the season.

McCourt also addressed the issue of the club’s presidency. Pablo Longoria’s departure was confirmed a few days ago, and Alban Juster is currently serving as interim president until a new appointment is made. “The process is indeed underway,” confirmed the American owner. “I prefer someone who knows France and Marseille well because I think it is crucial to understand the club’s culture. The person must also be a seasoned, experienced manager. I hope we will have the opportunity to announce the new president before the end of the season.”

Currently ranked third in Ligue 1 with only two points ahead of Lyon and Lille, OM will try to secure a direct spot in the Champions League for next season in the last part of the season.
