Every year, the question comes back to the table: should we write Easter with or without s? If the smartest people deal with the question by writing “Easter celebrations”, this question retains its full meaning… Because, although celebrated at the same time of the year, Easter and Easter are two different festivals. Even if the second draws its origins from the first.
What is Jewish Passover?
The Jewish Passover celebration (without s, therefore) lasts eight days. It celebrates a central event in the history and faith of the people of Israel: the Exodus, in other words the exit from Egypt. This episode in the history of the Hebrew people is recounted in the Book of Exodus, the second book of the Torah. Chosen and guided by God, the prophet Moses, helped by his brother Aaron, leads his people, reduced to slavery by Pharaoh in Egypt, out of the country, making them cross the Red Sea on dry ground.
