A few days before Easter, let us redouble our ardor in prayer for the 270 adult catechumens and 90 adolescents who are preparing to receive Baptism during the Easter Vigil, each and every one in their parishes.
Let us share with them our joy of welcoming them into the great family that is the Church of Christ!
Becoming a Christian totally transformed my life. I am consciously witnessing the rebirth of the person I am and will be, at 36 years old. I become an actor in my life. Being a Christian pushes you to take this past life into consideration, analyze it all, and see what is good and what is bad. The catechumenate lifted the veil on the subjective that was in me. And this immense love of our Lord has given way to great noble values, humility, self-giving, listening and almost forgiveness. But what was a real deliverance above all else was this fear of death that I had. Of course it’s hard to leave the people we love, but it’s also comforting to be a child of God, to have this legitimacy to say that I too will know this life after death, I will access the Kingdom of the Lord. Becoming a Christian is a struggle and my best weapon is prayer. And I pray in my heart because it is there that the Son of Man hears me…
Loïc, catéchumène
Being a Christian changes a lot of things in my life, especially in my way of living everyday life. This helps me to maintain confidence even when it is difficult, and to not feel alone in the challenges. My faith teaches me to step back, to love more, to forgive and to do my best, even imperfectly. It brings me a form of inner peace that I couldn’t find elsewhere. With my baptism approaching, I feel like I’m making a strong gesture, as a way of trusting something bigger than me and moving forward more serenely.
Ludivine, catéchumène
Accompanying adults in faith often pushes me to question myself. This service upsets me and questions me. But above all, it nourishes my faith and my hope. In fact, the exchanges during meetings are so rich that I receive much more than I give. I am amazed to see how in this hubbub of our century, adults hear God’s call and respond to it. With them, I am witness to this God who raises them up and who makes them reborn, as many of them express. God joins them without tiring and we walk with them as companions, respecting their doubts, their rhythm and their freedom. It is truly a great joy to see their evolution, their transformation throughout their journey. I thank all the companions for their dedication and I pray that the Lord continues to bless each one in their walk following Christ.

During this time of Lent, the community of Religious of the Assumption carries the catechumens of the diocese of Montpellier in prayer. Every day, we entrust them to the Lord, with their first names in our intercessions, praying for the entire group which is moving forward on the path to baptism, in the Church, towards Easter. We give thanks for the register of names that we received from the bishop during the Decisive Call. Placed at the foot of the Cross, in our Lenten setting, it concretely reminds us of the presence of the catechumens among us and our commitment to carrying them in our prayer.
