Concretely, the government announces that all FOREM staff currently seconded to 311 structures (242 ALEs, 56 Employment Centers, 4 Employment Relays and 9 local offices) will be redeployed to the 43 Single Points of Contact.

« Since I took office, I have wanted to clarify roles, reduce complexity and make our system more readable for the job seeker. This reform puts an end to the dispersion of services and creates real gateways to employment, organized around the real needs of job seekers.“, underlines Pierre-Yves Jeholet, Walloon Minister of Employment.

In the region, these Contact Points will be located in Courcelles, Farciennes, Thuin, and Chimay. These “PCU” will be fully operational no later than January 1, 2027.

What does that change?

According to the region’s press release, these single points of contact will bring together Forem services as well as local socio-professional integration players such as MIRE, CISP, CPAS, IDESS, TRES or Régies des Quartiers. Their presence will make it possible to offer, in the same place, a coordinated range of services adapted to the needs of job seekers far from the labor market.

In short, in these locations, job seekers will find:

  • Information and advice
  • Register as a job seeker
  • Support and guidance
  • Workshops and collective skills development activities
  • Job Opportunities

« The Single Contact Points will offer particularly close local support for job seekers with low or very low employability, who need more specific support. Other job seekers will not, however, be excluded from the system and will also be able to benefit from collective services, workshops or orientation support“, indicates the government.

Each operator will have access to the applicant’s file, allowing smoother monitoring and better consistency. Wallonia will have 43 unique points of contact supported by the 12 regional directorates of Forem.

The objective is simple: for each job seeker to find, in one place, the answers to their needs. This reform is not an administrative reorganization: it is an investment in efficiency, readability and human support…concludes Pierre-Yves Jeholet.
